A medieval (ish) fantasy world where knights serve a holy god, princes and princesses marry for duty, and borderland wars keep the realms warriors ready for any battle.
Magic is forbidden, for it is said that the cruel gods covet it and will return one day to oppress humans again if they give into the greed of using it.
But Princess Adelaide has never been particularly religious, preferring the precision of science and medicine over distant gods that have never bothered to help or hinder her before.
Secretly, she uses her abilities to help her realms warriors and the people of her realm from succumbing to injuries or the plague. She’s called a saint and revered by her people, her touch said to bless those she prays over.
But when she meets a wounded enemy soldier in the woods and takes mercy on him, he makes a blood oath to return the favor if ever he has the chance, protecting her, even at the cost of his own life.
She has now idea she just saved the crown prince of the realm that has terrorized hers for years now. And he has no idea that he just bound his life to the one person he will need to kill.
This sets in motion events that will echo through the realm. The story unfolds with four main POVs: Princess Adelaide, Prince Finnian, Morianne (Adelaide’s sister), and Azila, a reluctant rebel with a mysterious past.
A story that sweeps across realms, with stakes that build with each book, and characters that will grow and shift and change, this is my pitch for your next favorite fantasy author.
